Perseverance
An 8x10 relief print carved from a linoleum block.
Every print is unique.
This print was created when I needed encouragement for my season of healing after my knee surgery. I was in a state of uncertainty and feeling out of control in my own body. My original final recovery date was 9 months and I was very far beyond at over a year. I am very active and being inactive/limited for, now, 2 years, of an unknown final recovery date is disheartening. I wasn’t getting many answers about my healing process other than to keep pressing forward and pressing in. No insight for pain or why my muscles weren’t getting stronger. I sought advise from multiple medical professionals and this picture helped me to keep pressing in.
I asked the Lord for help and I saw this image and it instilled hope to me. While there was a lot of resistance pressing against me that felt like a wall of water around me that I was trudging through. I was my hands open and that while it was hard, it wasn’t impossible to keep moving forward. I was reminded to see the progress I had made and keep looking forward to the hope on the horizon. In the midst of the unknown, I was moving forward and not alone in the process.
My hope is that is would be an encouragement to anyone who needs it. God is with you in the unknown and believes in you! Stay with it. It may not always look how we thought it would and be harder than we thought, but you are moving forward and you are going to get through it!
